Each room here is a microcosm of creative thinking, art, technology, and indigenous culture. Through the forms of Guest Selection Room, Thematic Curatorial Room, and Art Project Room, you are encouraged to build your own experience, to record thoughts and stories during your stay.

我們將「設計」置放在置放在住宿體驗的核心，
並進一步透過在地設計作品並進一步透過在地設計作品構築一個體驗平台，使房客能與台灣文化、設計社群產生交流。
We center on design in the hospitality experience,
and further, use indigenous design works to communicate lodgers with local culture and design community.
「玩味旅舍」的內部空間透過各個在地設計作品重新創造意義，
有不同家具選品組成體現不同的含義，進而成為一個充滿故事的空間。
In Play Design Hotel,
the meaning of a space is recreated by each indigenous design item.
Hotel becomes a dynamic space manifesting different meanings in accordance with the constitution of furnishing items and stories.

旅客房間也能轉化為生活實驗室（Living Lab)，
發揮了旅舍空間私密與公共的兼容性。
來自世界各國的旅客有充足的時間進入設計情境、操作設計、提供反饋。
By transforming a hotel room into a Living Lab,
we demonstrate the compatibility of a hotel space in both private and public areas.
Guests from different countries are provided with plenty of time to enter the experienced scenario, operate the design probes, and contribute feedback.
房間內的設計物件不只是風格化的家飾，
同時是旅客參與設計研究的觸點，
也是設計師蒐集住客回應的研究工具。
The design objects are not just the stylized furniture or accessories,
but also the research artifacts that enable the guests to learn and participate,
and/or help the designers to collect comments and feedbacks.

如「募資選品房」曾促成設計樣品進入量產，

Your stay can also incubate design products.
Examples such as Crowd-Funding Selection Room have helped the first trial of mass production and the commercialization of certain custom-made design.
通過不同階段協助設計師發展品牌或產品，

為台灣設計師提供一個「真實世界」來發展研究與商業化。
By facilitating designers’ brand or product development in different stages,
Play Design Hotel becomes a design incubator for you,
and offers a "real world" for design research and commercialization.
SPACE
撕下和泰大飯店三十八年的壁紙，露出的水泥牆面完美平整，是旅舍被繃布包裹的肌膚。
乘載歷史與設計的水泥牆面，如同人透過身體肌膚，與設計互動，感觸設計背後美學與文化的故事。
The perfectly smooth concrete walls of the He-tai Hotel, exposed after the 38-year-old wallpapers were removed, are the hotel’s skins wrapped in stretch fabric.
The hotel’s concrete walls carry the history and design and interact with it as humans do with their skins, feeling the aesthetics and culture of the design.
一段漫漫歲月，在未施脂粉的水泥基調停駐，
是不一樣的色澤、不一樣的肌理、不一樣的斑駁。
The passing seasons left their mark on the unmasked concrete foundation – different colors, different textures, and different patterns.

鐵窗花、鐵皮、棄置管線等日常軌跡，
四十年間，無心點綴著旅舍後陽台。
Iron window grill, metal roof, and the abandoned pipelines,
materialize the traces of daily life, shared by Play Design Hotel in the past 40 years.
透過回收的舊鐵窗、特製的女兒牆掛桌等設計物件，
我們體現設計思考如何連結在地脈絡與風景。
Through the recycled iron windows, and two hanging tables,
We create the harmony between design thinking and local context and landscape.
